Art II

Monochromatic Atmospheric Perspective

After examining examples of a monochromatic color scheme in art history, students created their own painting using the same scheme. This project focuses on atmospheric perspective and how to create depth within a painting. Students gained an introduction to photoshop and will use the tools to create a full color mock up. To practice mixing tints and shades, students also created a value scale using paint. With both of these steps to refer back to, they then completed a final painting.

High Contrast Self Portrait

In this project, we focused on complementary color scheme and high contrast. This project was completed as a ceramics project, and students painted their portrait using underglaze. Prior to transferring their portrait, students used photoshop to put a stamp filter over their image, breaking the picture down into 2 colors. After printing their image, students added a pattern before transferring to their clay.
